Whitney Houston met with Clive Davis at Nobu in New York yesterday and looked -- good?! The R&B diva was looking more "Waiting to Exhale" and a less the hot mess as she exited the restaurant with the music titan. TMZ asked when her new album was coming out, and the refreshed looking Houston responded, "We're working on it!" Hell to the yes! Now that she is divorced from Bobby Brown, completed a stay in rehab -- and signed a $100 million dollar deal in September with Arista Records -- the songstress is about to show Britney how a comeback is done!

World Peace Tour 4 Children

23 Sep 2007 by Sylwia

An international galaxy of stars will take to the stage in Namibia next year for the first of a series of concerts aimed at raising both funds and awareness to educate and empower children around the world, organizers said today at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The “World Peace Tour 4 Children” is the brainchild of Wolfgang Hildebrandt, a well-known German vocalist and activist, and Lavika Bhagat Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Charity Network Inc., a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., which campaigns against trafficking in children.
“Children are the future, and when children have no future, nobody has a future,” said Mr. Hildebrandt, at a press conference sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations.
“We will start (the Tour) with the first concert on April 22, the official Earth Day, in Namibia,” he said. “We will go after this to South Africa. We will go to India, to South Korea, to Tokyo -- everywhere… We really want to be a light in the darkness.”
Joining the Tour would be Kool and the Gang, Peabo Bryson (who sang with Celine Dion on the soundtrack of Beauty and the Beast), Andrea Bocelli, Carlos Santana, Quincy Jones and Whitney Houston, said Mr. Hildebrant, adding that former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev would act as master of ceremonies. The actor Richard Gere would also participate.
Also at today’s press conference was Promod Sharma, a successful information technology entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of Charity Network, who explained that proceeds would go to both Charity Network and local organizations that reached out to disadvantaged children. “We want to have local artists, local governments, become part of the whole movement.” Funds raised in one area would be spent in that same area, “to help those kids in that area”. The Tour would be a long-term venture, he said, adding, “We want to be able to make sure we come through with this and that it stays with us for a long time.”
Namibia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kaire Munionganda Mbuende, told correspondents it was “no coincidence” that the “World Peace Tour 4 Children” would begin in his country, as Namibia had been the first to enshrine the rights of the child in its Constitution.
He expressed concern that the situation for children has been “deteriorating”, saying: “We are not only dealing with the question of trafficking in children. We are having a situation of a lot of orphans because of HIV/AIDS. We are having a situation where children are actually heads of households because their parents have died -– you have children taking care of children… Unless you do something about the situation of children, the future would be very bleak for a lot of our countries.”
Also lending support to the “World Peace Tour 4 Children” was the United Nations former Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, Anwarul K. Chowdhury. He noted how the Tour coincided with the United Nations-declared International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World, which runs through 2010.
“I think this Peace Tour will give the final years of the decade a big boost,” Mr. Chowdhury said. Turning to the organizers, he added: “The heart of the World Peace Tour is education… You will be bringing educational materials, opportunities for education for the children -- and I believe that that’s a wonderful thing.”

Akon Raves About Working With Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston

19 Sep 2007 by Sylwia

Akon's melodic thuggin' on the airwaves has helped turn records by superstars like Gwen Stefani into harmonic hits. Now the singer is moving into the realm of three of music's most iconic legends: Madonna, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.
"Ooh, don't even say his name twice," 'Kon joked recently in Miami, referring to Jackson. "I'm not supposed to be talking about this!"
Although he wouldn't disclose the specifics of his collaboration or collaborations with Jackson fearing the cold, swift sting of a slap from the King of Pop's signature gloved hand (or, at least, legal action), he did let MTV News in on the experience. "He's incredible," 'Kon testified of M.J. "He's a genius. Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved. That aura ... that's how incredible that aura is. We about to shake the world up, man. You know how you be with somebody and you can't even explain [the feeling]? I used to sit and think, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre, to a point [where] nobody can't be a part of that without associating with you?' The way he thinks ... some artists think regional, some think national, I was thinking international. He thinks planets. It's on another level." While 'Kon hasn't been in the studio with Madonna yet, he said he expects to "shock the world" with her Madge-esty before the end of the year.

He did say that the tracks he records with Whitney Houston will reflect her real, personal life.
"I'm starting on Whitney's project," he said. "She's the truth. She's undeniable. She's got so much to think about, sing about. This album is going to be one of the biggest albums she decided to put out. She has so much energy, so much happiness and sadness to incorporate into the album. Her voice is strong enough to deliver any message she wants to sing to the world. It's outta here."
However, it will be a while before we see another album from Akon himself — he estimates about 18 months. Plans call for three more singles to be released from his multiplatinum Konvicted LP. The hitmaker said he does have a clear vision for the album: He wants it to be the soundtrack to a film he is spearheading inspired by the 2006 documentary "Cocaine Cowboys" (see "Mixtape Monday: 50 Cent, Akon Become Phone Friends; Wyclef Lifts T.I.'s Swagger"). "It's the biggest movie in history," he said. "You thought 'Scarface' was crazy, this movie is a true-life story based on Jon Roberts. He was the leading pilot for the Medellin Cartel [Colombian drug traffickers]. Everything about it is real except the characters. It's about the war on drugs."

Whitney Houston quietly sells 8,022-square-foot Alpharetta, GA house for $1.19M

09 Sep 2007 by Sylwia

Whitney Houston has quietly sold her five-bedroom, 8,022-square-foot house in Alpharetta, Ga. for $1,190,000, just months after it was headed for foreclosure. In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the sale by Houston of the house at 1014 Tullamore Place in Alpharetta, which the diva purchased in 2003 for $1,388,888. Back on May 4, we wrote about the house being on the market for $1,349,000. We also addressed and debunked published rumors that the house, where her then-husband’s 2005 reality TV show “Being Bobby Brown” was filmed, had been sold in a foreclosure sale in November 2006.
Now, public records show that Houston sold the house at a loss on May 4, which was the same day as our blog post and just days after the singer and Brown finalized their divorce. As such, it’s pretty clear that the house was awarded to Whitney in the divorce. The sale was recorded on May 14, according to public records. Built in 2001, the two-story house in Alpharetta, which is just outside Atlanta, has seven baths, a master suite on the main level with a morning bar, a keeping room overlooking the kitchen with a wet bar, a breakfast nook, a breakfast bar, a full finished terrace level, a billiard room, a circular driveway, a balcony and a three-car garage, all on a 0.6-acre lot, according to public records and listing information. The buyer is a man who is not a celebrity.

Bobby Brown in Court: 'I Just Miss My Daughter'

31 Aug 2007 by Sylwia

comments 0
Bobby Brown went to court Friday in Orange County, Calif., seeking legal and physical custody of his 14-year-old daughter with Whitney Houston, telling PEOPLE, "I just miss my daughter."
"I miss watching her sleep, making her laugh, everything, it's the simple things," Brown said after a court hearing for custody of Bobbi Kristina. "She looks like me – it's like looking in the mirror. The goal is to see her a lot more and to be involved in the decision making in her life, the places she goes, the people she hangs out with. All of that."
For now, he will have to wait until Oct. 22 before any custody decision is made: The judge on Friday called for both Brown and Houston to personally argue their cases in a deposition.
Houston did not appear in court, and her lawyers had no comment afterward, saying they're awaiting the October deposition. Brown, wearing a grey pinstriped suit, purple shirt and tie, said mid-hearing, "I'm looking forward to my day in court, hopefully it will come."
The judge called for deposition at the same courthouse in Orange Couty. Houston, however, will be allowed to tape hers, as she and Bobbi Kristina have moved to Atlanta, where the pop star is currently recording.
Though the pair were recently photographed together at a restaurant in Georgia, recent court documents show that Brown, 40, and Houston, 44, are still not seeing eye-to-eye. Brown claimed in legal papers last month that "Since Whitney has been awarded sole legal and physical custody of Bobbi Kris, she has attempted to eliminate me from Bobbi Kris's life."
Added Brown on Friday: "I just want to be there to help her make the right decisions and be her father."
Brown's lawyers on Friday claimed that Houston flew Brown out to Atlanta two days ago to spend time with his daughter, and that Houston told him not to appear at the court hearing. His lawyers also said of his trip to Atlanta: "He thought they were still working on their marriage. She is the woman he loves." Reporting by AMY KEITH

Brown Revs Up Houston Custody Fight

31 Aug 2007 by Sylwia

Houston, he has a problem.

In court documents filed last month and made public this week, Bobby Brown is seeking to overturn a decision granting ex-wife Whitney Houston sole custody of their teenage daughter, not only disputing Houston's claims he was an "unreliable" parent but painting himself as a father so devoted to her well-being he ended up living in his car in order to provide for her.
"Since Whitney has been awarded sole legal and physical custody of Bobbi Kris, she has attempted to eliminate me from Bobbi Kris' life," the former New Edition singer said of his 14-year-old girl in the legal papers. "I did all I could to see my daughter."
He also claims he did all he could to ensure her safety and comfort, saying he footed the bill for his girls to maintain the life to which they were accustomed in 2005, when Houston checked in to rehab for the second time that year. Brown argued that during that time, he became the child's sole caretaker.
"I also paid approximately $10,000 for Whitney and Bobbi Kris to live in a nice hotel while Whitney was going through rehab...I basically lived out of my car."
In October of last year, the 44-year-old Houston filed for divorce from her 38-year-old partner of 14 years. After Brown failed to respond to the papers, Houston requested for a judge to fast-track the legal split, and the duo's divorce was made final in April of this year. Around the same time, Orange County judge Franz E. Miller also awarded Houston sole physical and legal custody of their child, after teary testimony that Brown was an "unreliable" father.
Houston did not request spousal or child support from Brown. He, however, did not pay her the same courtesy.
In May, just a month after the divorce was finalized, Brown filed suit against Houston both for spousal support and to change the terms of the custody arrangement, claiming financial and emotional problems prevented him from properly responding to her divorce petition.
"I was, for all intents and purposes, homeless," he said in court papers at the time. The current release of paperwork is Brown's follow-up on the case.
"I have not seen or spoken to my daughter since early June," he said in the most recent court documents, "and I have no prospect of speaking to her or seeing her anytime soon due to Whitney's actions."
For her part, Houston has responded to Brown's pitiable allegations, saying his portrait of himself as the victim in the relationship is not accurate.
Of his claim that he was a present parent to Bobbi Kristina, Houston alleges instead that he was "almost totally uninvolved in taking care of her."
In response to his request for spousal support, Houston said such financial aid would be unnecessary if he could get his act together, like she did.
"Bobby is fully capable of working and earning substantial sums of money if he would control his personal behavior...Frankly, I needed to be divorced from him so that I could get my life back on track."
Still, despite his apparent flaws as a spouse and father, Houston said she still wants him connected to their daughter and that, despite his recent outcry to the contrary, he has remained in her own life.
"We have a daughter together, and I would like him to be involved in her life," she said.
"From the time I moved to California in April 2006 until now, Bobby and I have remained friendly toward each other."
Outside the courthouse, anyway.
The two were spotted dining together just this month, after the latest court docs were filed, at Joe's Crab Shack in Alpharetta, Georgia, near their old Atlanta stomping grounds. However, the meeting wasn't a sign of things to come: Houston's rep issued a statement after photos of the couple made the Internet rounds, denying a reconciliation was in the works. by Gina Serpe

Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown Custody Fight Reignites

29 Aug 2007 by Sylwia

Despite recent sightings of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown that appeared to show the divorced couple on good terms, the pair have less-than-complimentary things to say about each other in court documents related to custody of their 14-year-old child, Bobbi Kristina.
In newly released legal papers that were filed last month, Brown, 38, claims, "Since Whitney has been awarded sole legal and physical custody of Bobbi Kris, she has attempted to eliminate me from Bobbi Kris' life."
The former New Edition singer also states, "I did all I could to see my daughter ... I also paid approximately $10,000 for Whitney and Bobbi Kris to live in a nice hotel while Whitney was going through rehab ... I basically lived out of my car."
Pointing an accusing finger at Houston, 44, Brown also says, "I have not seen or spoken to my daughter since early June and I have no prospect of speaking to her or seeing her anytime soon due to Whitney's actions."
In her declaration to the court, Houston claims that Brown has been "almost totally uninvolved in taking care of [Bobbi Kristina]," and that she believes "Bobby is going to try to get child or spousal support from me ... Bobby is fully capable of working and earning substantial sums of money if he would control her personal behavior."
"We have a daughter together and I would like him to be involved in her life," Houston says. "Frankly, I needed to be divorced from him so that I could get my life back on track."
In May, Brown sued Houston for spousal support, child support and shared shared custody.
Despite their legal problems, the couple were seen together earlier this month at Joe's Crab Shack in Alpharetta, Ga., having dinner and even posing for pictures with fans, though Houston's rep said the two were not about to reconcile.
Still, in the legal document, Houston does state, "From the time I moved to California in April 2006 until now, Bobby and I have remained friendly toward each other."

Because in the face of plummeting album sales - pundits suggest local figures are down by almost 20 per cent - labels have continued to sink millions of dollars into launching a broad range of acts.

Many big album releases have been pushed back until next year and beyond. It's not only Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy that has mysteriously disappeared from release schedules. Expected blockbusters from U2, Green Day, Coldplay, REM, Metallica, Radiohead, Panic! At the Disco, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston have been delayed until 2008.

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown 'On Good Terms'
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown had dinner together on Tuesday night – but that doesn't mean the former husband and wife are getting back together. Patrons at Joe's Crab Shack in Alpharetta, Ga., were surprised when Brown and Houston – who divorced in April – showed up together. Sitting at a table near the window and dressed casually, the couple – whose photograph was obtained by TMZ.com – appeared to be engaged in pleasant conversation during their seafood and salad dinners. They even posed together for pictures with autograph seekers. "They did eat here," the restaurant's general manager, David Evans, confirms to PEOPLE, "and they seemed to enjoy their meal." Although in May Brown, 38, sued Houston, 44, for spousal support, child support and shared custody, a source close to the two says that the former couple have remained close. In February, they also shared a dinner, for the sake of daughter Bobbi Kristina, 14. "They're still on good terms," says a relative of Brown's. "They don't hate each other." Just don't expect a reconciliation anytime soon. "[Getting back together] is the furthest thing from their mind," says the family member. "That's just not in the cards. They've got a history together, so they've got a lot to talk about. It's as simple as that." [People.Com]

Whitney and Mandisa A few more details on the Whitney Houston pop-up appearance Saturday night at the Curb Event Center at Belmont. That was where gospel great CeCe Winans was hosting her third annual Always Sisters Girls Conference, which is basically a gigantic weekend support group for young ladies. CeCe always has a concert as part of the conference, and that’s where her buddy, Whitney Houston, showed and sang. And if you love Whitney, you might be kicking yourself: The concert was open to the public, and it only cost $18.50. Among the other performers: American Idol alum/Nashville native Mandisa, who just released an AMAZING Christian album, True Beauty. Whitney was amazed: She sat in a front-row seat for Mandisa’s performance. [news2wkrn.com]

"Nashville Idol Releases First Album"
Another American Idol finalist has a new album. And country singer Trace Adkins is now an author. Ya gotta admit - Trace is one colorful character.
And now he's gonna write a colorful book on his political and social views.
he book -"a personal stand: observations and opinions of a freethinking roughneck" - comes out October 23rd. American idol alum Mandisa watched her first album drop this week. The album, "True Beauty", is on a Nashville Christian label. Mandisa says the current trend of songs about booty shaking and sex is just not her style.
One of the album's earliest fans is Whitney Houston.
Whitney made a surprise appearance Saturday night while Mandisa was singing at the Curb Event Center at Belmont.
And Whitney sat in the front row to watch.

According to interview with Offer Nissim, he is waiting "...for final confirmations that will allow him to produce a remix for Houston's next track..."

So what's next for Nissim? He never likes to stay in one place and always thinks of the next big project. Right now, Whitney Houston and Madonna are on his mind. He's waiting for final confirmations that will allow him to produce a remix for Houston's next track, the first from her forthcoming “comeback” album.
