::: A source in Whitney Houston's camp told “People” magazine that the singer's mother Cissy Houston actually petitioned a Georgia court to order her child into a drug rehabilitation center last March. The diva, 41, was ferreted off to Antigua, West Indies to enter the Crossroads treatment center founded by musician Eric Clapton. After spending about a month inside, Whitney reportedly left the facility in late April and rejoined her family in an undisclosed Caribbean location, reports “People.” A rep for the artist tells the magazine that Houston is "entering the second phase of her treatment." Meanwhile, her husband's Bravo reality show “Being Bobby Brown” promises to “demystify Brown's relationships with Houston" and their daughter Bobbi Kristina, among other things. The show will premiere on June 30. [EUROWEB.COM]

::: Whitney Houston leaving Eric Clapton's exclusive rehabilitation clinic, Antigua - 19.04.05.

::: Troubled singer Whitney Houston has finished her rehabilitation therapy on the Caribbean island of Antigua, less than a month after a court ordered her to undergo intensive treatment. The "I Will Always Love You" star left Eric Clapton's exclusive Crossroads Clinic in Willoughby Bay Tuesday, where she was sent after Georgia's Fulton County Sheriff's Office received an order from the county probate court to apprehend Houston. The reason for the order and who issued it remains confidential information. Houston's latest rehab stint - which started on March 23 - shocked fans, who were convinced she had finally conquered her drug demons last year after a high-profile battle. However, Houston won't be returning to the Atlanta, Georgia home she shares with husband Bobby Brown yet - she's been transferred to another clinic near her neighborhood. [KGET 17]

::: Deliverance is the word : There is no surprise that the day has come when Whitney Houston , one of America's greatest pop voices, has to make a decision between life and death. The lady has entered rehab so many times that even some of her most ardent fans have given up on hearing the magical voice that once hypnotized them.
When I spoke with her mom, Cissy, who is a good friend, I was told that this time around her daughter realizes she can't go on the way she has - she has to make a decision about her life. “Whitney,” her mom said, “understands the seriousness of her problem and she wants deliverance from the pain of it all. She believes that she can lick any odds she is forced to face. She wants to live - she knows that the drug world is a road to death. And I know my daughter, she will win this battle like everything else she's had to face through her life.”

::: HOUSTON GETS A BOOST FROM HORNE
Whitney Houston has been given the perfect incentive to overcome her drug troubles once and for all - singing legend Lena Horne wants The Bodyguard star to play her in an upcoming biopic. Janet Jackson lost Horne's vote to play her when the pop superstar bared her breast at last year's (04) SUPER BOWL, and now the Stormy Weather singer has given her blessing for troubled Houston to step into her shoes. According to sources, Houston wrote a letter to Horne, asking her for permission to bring her life to the big screen in a planned biopic, and the singing legend agreed to the request just before the soul star checked into rehabilitation earlier this month (MAR05) for ongoing drug treatment. ::: A year after her first reported stay in rehab, Whitney Houston has again checked into a rehabilitation facility. "Whitney Houston has re-entered a rehabilitation facility today," her publicist, Nancy Seltzer, told The Associated Press Wednesday. She declined to provide details.
The news was first reported by syndicated entertainment TV show "Access Hollywood." In March 2004, Houston checked herself into an undisclosed rehabilitation center. After years of denying drug use, the pop diva said she had used cocaine, marijuana and pills in an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC's "Primetime" in 2002. She has said she was using the power of prayer to help her get over drugs. In January 2000, Houston left behind a bag at an airport in Hawaii that allegedly held less than half an ounce of marijuana and three partially smoked marijuana cigarettes; a petty misdemeanor drug charge was dismissed when a counselor said Houston didn't need treatment for substance abuse. Houston, 41, has been working with producer CliveDavis on a comeback album. [AP]

::: Faith Evans Thanks Whitney
Hip-hop star Faith Evans is forever indebted to Whitney Houston for coming to her aid when she was arrested for marijuana and cocaine possession last year (04). The former wife of Notorious B.I.G and her husband Todd Russaw were arrested in Georgia after they were pulled over for a routine traffic violation - when drugs were found in their car. And the couple's Atlanta neighbour, Whitney, was one of the first to offer her support. Evans says, "Everyone down to Whitney Houston was calling. She was like, 'Are the kids OK? Do they need a ride to school?'" [contactmusic.com]

::: Whitney Houston gets ill on airliner, taken to Paris hospital [AP]
LOS ANGELES - Grammy-winning singer Whitney Houston got ill on an airliner bound for France and was taken Thursday to a Paris hospital for treatment of apparent food poisoning, her publicist said.
"Whitney Houston was rushed to a hospital in Paris because of severe vomiting. She was sick on the aircraft," said Nancy Seltzer, her Los Angeles publicist. "She is doing well. She has gastroenteritis." Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the stomach and the intestines. Seltzer didn't know the source of the food poisoning.
Houston, 41, was traveling to Europe with a bodyguard when she fell ill, the spokeswoman said. When the aircraft landed as scheduled in Paris, the entertainer was taken to an undisclosed Paris hospital, where she was being treated in the emergency room. The name of the airline and the hospital wasn't disclosed for security reasons. It wasn't believed Houston would need to be admitted to the hospital, Seltzer said. Houston is perhaps best known for her rendition of "I Will Always Love You" and her role in the film "The Bodyguard."

::: [AJC.COM] Whitney and Bobby's Valentine getaway
Like countless other lovebirds, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown spent a cozy Valentine's Day in heavy romance mode. The singers were spotted at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro over the long holiday weekend.
"It's Buckhead!" belter Melanie Massell and her trio were the featured entertainment Sunday night in the lodge lobby. During a break, Massell felt someone touch her arm and whisper, "You have a wonderful voice." Seconds later, after the admiring fan had walked away, Massell said her brain processed that it was Houston. "Both Whitney and Bobby took the time to compliment us," Massell told Buzz Wednesday. "It was extremely sweet of them." The vocalist and Brown alternated their attentions between Massell's set of love song standards, including "At Last," "Fly Me to the Moon" and "The Way You Look Tonight," and the live Grammys telecast on the lobby bar's television. Massell and company contemplated sliding a swing version of Brown's hit single "My Prerogative" into their set but ultimately nixed the idea. "We decided to stick with what we do best," Massell said, laughing. "I have a decent range, but with Whitney Houston in the room, well, let's just say I decided to save myself the embarrassment!" The celebrity couple also spent Monday at the luxury getaway on Lake Oconee. [Thanks to Keisha]

::: New Whitney Houston Album On the Way, Says Davis
Expect a new album from Whitney Houston by year's end, reports music icon and J Records honcho Clive Davis.'We're going back into the studio either the last week of March or the first week of April,' says Davis, who's godfathered her career from the beginning. 'I'm extremely excited about being back with her. I've recorded with her every great album she did and we're a great team.' Davis says the album won't be a new direction for the singer who's been in the press more for her beleaguered marriage and substance abuse problems in the past few years than her music. 'It's just going to be great material. We're back and we're going to pick the best songs. It's going to be Whitney at her best. Her voice is soaring. Did you see her at the World Music Awards a few weeks ago where I got the Lifetime Achievement Award? She was dazzling! The camera panned to Celine Dion crying and Josh Groban crying and Courtney Love said 'My God, this is the best singer in the world.'' [Thanks David /Netscape]

::: An associate of Whitney Houston's late father is writing a tell-all book about the singer, to be published in the next few months. "The Rise and Fall of Daddy's Little Girl - The Whitney Houston Story" would give Kevin Skinner's firsthand account of run-ins with the singer and her husband, Bobby Brown, including, he claims, "the drugs, the affairs, the lies." Skinner's rep says that the book will be "shocking." [mtv.com]

::: Whitney Houston's Comeback? By Roger Friedman
I do believe that Whitney Houston is ready to make her comeback. A beautiful color photo of the cherubic-looking Whitney is prominently featured in the booklet-sized invitation for Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash on Feb. 12. Houston is only one of four performers featured in the glossy invite — the others are Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and Annie Lennox. Davis keeps the names of the performers at his party a secret until the last minute, but we already know that Davis's J Records stars Jamie Foxx and Gavin DeGraw are scheduled to be in the show. A good guess would also include J's teen sensation R&B star Mario. But I wouldn't count on Jennifer Lopez or Ashlee Simpson getting on Clive's stage. Only the most confident singers need apply, because there's no augmentation. Since Davis always throws in some superstars from the past, this year could be particularly exciting. Available and ready are Mavis Staples, who's getting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys, and performers such as Billy Preston, who'll be collaborating in a Ray Charles tribute on the Grammy show with Bonnie Raitt. Last year, Alicia Keys sang with the legendary R&B group Ray, Goodman and Brown and Stylistics star Russell Thompkins, Jr. Davis's Grammy party continues to be a much hotter ticket than the Grammy show itself, since it is still held in a relatively small venue: the Beverly Hills Hotel ballroom. Sources tell me demand for seating is higher than ever this year, because many tables have gone to sponsors like L'Oreal and Sirius Radio. But you can still expect some regulars, with the exception, sadly, of mainstay Dick Clark. If he does put in an appearance, it will cause a bigger stir almost than Whitney.
As for Whitney: Her return will be greeted with thunderous applause and ovations, if it happens. She is still the best voice of her generation. And no one can help her re-start her career better than the man who put her on the map in the first place. [FOXNEWS.COM]

::: In new Entertainment Weekly magazine there is small note about Whitney:
Whitney Houston: BMG North America chair and CEO Clive Davis, the guru behind Houston's biggest hits, reteams with the singer in March to record what he calls an "album of Whitney Houston music." But will expected appearances on troubled hubby Bobby Brown's upcoming VH1 reality series, and historically erratic behavior, sideline her yet again? "Whitney knows that it's up to her," says Davis, who expects to beat the disappointing 1 million sales for 2002's Just Whitney... "Nobody has to lecture her. She knew what she was getting into when she came onto this." Just remember Whitney: "Crack is wack."

::: USA Today made a list of the top celebs which are on their 2005 radar screen. This is what they wrote about Whitney:
After a stint in rehab, songbird Houston, 41, has declared 2005 to be her "new beginning." She returns to the spotlight this year with a new album produced by mentor Clive Davis and a concert tour. Does she still have it? Judging by her comeback performance at September's World Music Awards, we'd say things are looking up for Mrs. Bobby Brown. [USA TODAY.com]
